I voluntarily and enthusiastically played my part to help shape the future of around 15 to 25 Lila Poonawalla Foundation beneficiaries (young girl students studying in colleges) through a mentorship and skills-building session. The vision of Lila Poonawalla Foundation is to contribute to the empowerment of Indian women by supporting academically outstanding and financially challenged girls, through skills building to achieve economic empowerment and granting of scholarships to help the beneficiaries pursue higher education. Youths are the future of any country and I found it to be a very satisfying and meaningful experience to be able to contribute towards grooming and mentoring the workforce of the future by interacting with our budding future talents! I passionately mentored the youth on the important topic of "enhancing their digital profiles to improve their employability quotient" - some great conversations on strengthening the digital presence and exploring the different available digital avenues to learn new skills, get certified & explore job opportunities, happened along the way. Being a mentor, I shared exciting personal and professional insights with the beneficiaries to observe and support world Youth Skill Building, a United Nations’ observance. I believe that I could effectively and sufficiently inspire and empower the participants through digital literacy. I had guided the youth participants through Zoom breakout rooms on: What is Linkedin? What does a strong and professional Linkedin profile look like? How does one search for job opportunities using Linkedin? How does one keep her Linkedin profile updated? How can one enhance her professional network on digital platforms like Linkedin? I had assisted the participants in creating Linkedin profiles and introduced them to Linkedin Learning and talked about how they can utilize courses available for free on Linkedin Learning. The entire activity lasted for 2 hours. The event happened on Friday, November 26, 2021, 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM India Standard Time (IST).
